The Sweetest Kind
Recently the author of the blog Terrible Minds, Chuck Wendig posed a challenge to the readers of his blog. This was to create a short flash fiction story based around the concept of revenge. Now this could have been any kind of revenge, he of course challenged us to be creative in what we wrote. As someone who only does this as a hobby, I found it a welcome challenge and something that I enjoyed trying. Without further ado though, I give you my entry into the 100 Word Flash Fiction Challenge “The Sweetest Kind.”
It was a final betrayal of trust; the brushes, subtle gropes against other men were nothing to this, the moans from our bed as I listened, could not compare, her indifference during confrontation painful, but this was a new low, even for her.
The knife felt hot in my hand as I saw her, her look telling me what I already knew. My shaking hand betrayed my emotion when my face would not. There was one way to fix this mistake. The knife plunged into my wife’s abdomen, sinking to the hilt.
Revenge of the sweetest kind.
My life repaired.

I had a hard time understanding what exactly was going on in the first sentence. But the rest of the story was very clear. Definitely revenge.
